Summer Camp Positions

GSNETX seeks seasonal staff for the following positions:

Unit Counselor/ Waterfront Lifeguard:

Participate as a member of a leadership team in the unit and activity supervision team at the waterfront to carry out specific responsibilities for the planning and implementation of the Girl Scout and aquatic programs in a camp setting; responsible for the safeguarding of camper and staff health, safety, and security in camp and at the waterfront area. 18 years of age or older.

Unit Counselor:

Participate as a member of a leadership team to carry out specific responsibilities for the planning and implementation of Girl Scout program in a camp setting; responsible for the safeguarding of campers' health, safety, and security. 18 years of age or older.

Unit Leader:

Responsible for planning, teaching, and coordinating unit activities, while helping the campers in the unit to develop an enjoyment and appreciation of the out-of-doors. Assist and supervise the unit counselors. 21 years of age or older

Camp Health Supervisor/ Nurse:

Participate as a member of the camp administration team to carry out responsibilities for the planning and implementation of Girl Scout program in an outdoor setting; responsible for the overall planning and implementation of the camp health care, including the safeguarding of camper and staff health and safety. Must have current license/ certification as a doctor or RN, driver’s license, and good driving record.

Full Time Positions

Girl Scout Leadership Experience Specialist

The Girl Scout Leadership Experience Specialist is accountable for the quality of programming offered to girl members. Primary focus is on ensuring that girl programming within the council, both council-hosted and volunteer led: a) promotes Girl Scout values, b) incorporates the principles of girl led, experiential and cooperative learning, and c) is aligned with, and results in, Girl Scout leadership outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Use extensive knowledge of a) girls, b) the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and c) the national program portfolio, to support volunteers in delivering a quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

  2. Work with the Fund Development team to identify the best partners for program offerings and fund-development opportunities.
  3. Ensure more leadership for more girls by developing toolkits and disseminating practical girl programming options to volunteers.
  4. Perform ongoing program evaluation; identify and implement program improvements to enable more effective and efficient achievement of outcomes in troop and event settings.
  5. Advance Mission Delivery by providing stakeholders expertise on girls, girl issues and outcomes.
  6. Support membership team and volunteers in designated area by providing program support and consultation.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required (Education, Liberal Arts or Business preferred).
  2. A minimum of 2-3 years progressive experience in program design, implementation and evaluation.
  3. Strong Project Management Skills.
  4. Critical thinking and creative problem solving skills.
  5. Demonstrated strength in both verbal and written communication.

Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations

JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations, is responsible for the creation and management of a well-coordinated, strategic development plan to cultivate and solicit support from foundations and corporations to ensure that annual revenue goals are met. This position works to establish long-term partnerships, strengthen existing relationships, and initiate new contacts within the corporate and foundation sectors, and works with the Vice President, Fund Development to provide direction and oversight of the Grant Writer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)

  1. Directs all aspects of GSNETX’s private foundation grants portfolio as well as the agency’s corporate giving program.
  2. Develops and implements strategies for multi-faceted engagement of corporate donors through grants, event sponsorship, volunteering, cause-related marketing, and strategic philanthropy.
  3. Responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding grants, sponsorships and general donations from foundations and corporations.
  4. Works closely with other members of the Fund Development Team to implement strategies for multi-faceted engagement of corporate donors.
  5. Researches Corporate Social Responsibility programs to ensure that efforts are informed, strategic and aligned with current trends in corporate giving.
  6. Works with senior leadership and Board and other volunteers on prospect development and the solicitation/cultivation of corporate and foundation prospects.
  7. Performs other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required with 5-7 years of progressive experience in corporate and foundation philanthropy, business development and/or sales experience.
  2. Exceptional oral and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office programs; experience in use of DonorPerfect or other relational databases preferred.
  3. Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and foundation fundraising.
  4. Demonstrated ability in proposal writing for varied proposal development.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of methods, practices and procedures for obtaining information about the giving programs of corporations and foundations.
  6. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals.
  7. Ability to initiate and build relationships with prospective corporate and foundation donors, and interact via telephone and in person with institutional representatives.

Grant Writer

JOB SUMMARY

Working closely with the Vice President of Fund Development and the fund development team, the Grant Writer is responsible for writing proposals for unrestricted operating revenue, restricted projects, and capital projects (as needed), and ensuring a smooth and successful proposal submission process, accurate recordkeeping, and results-oriented reporting for foundations, corporations, government, and United Ways.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  1. Participate in the setting of annual revenue goals from foundations, corporations, government, and United Ways.
  2. Manage and continue to improve an internal grant management process that promotes staff collaboration as well as effective research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Utilize technology for efficiency and tracking, and train staff as needed.
  3. Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
  4. Work with finance to gather information necessary to report to funders on current grant programs.
  5. Comply with all grants reporting as required by donors.
  6. Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for grants.
  7. Work with other members of the fund development and marketing teams to provide regular written updates (newsletters, etc.) to corporate and foundation donors and to provide input for other materials and publications (Annual Report, donor collateral materials, etc.)
  8. Develop an understanding of organizational history and programs; collaborate with program and membership staff to develop and communicate programming needs, outcomes, and vision.
  9. Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.
  10. Promote, support, and participate in the team goals of the fund development and marketing departments.
  11. Represent Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas in the community as required.
  12. Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy, respect and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by this council, and others with whom her/his job puts her/him in contact.
  13. Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Minimum of three years related experience in grant writing and grants administration, including a comprehensive understanding of nonprofit grant writing, outcomes and financial reporting requirements.
  3. Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals; strong editing skills and attention to details.
  4. Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Knowledge of DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge, and/or Sage MIP a plus.
  5. Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
  6. Knowledge and familiarity with fundraising information sources and research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
  7. Must be able to work well under pressure in a team environment, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  8. Able to monitor and meet income goals.
