Course 601: Service Unit Team Overview
- Designed for ALL GSSU team members. Participants will get an overview of the structure and work of the GS Service Unit, what services the service unit provides and what support they should expect. Included as well are the steps of the volunteer development process and resources available.
Course 602: SU Team - Manager
- Designed especially for incoming GS SU Managers, this course will help the individual to identify their strengths and learn to deal effectively with five specific areas of managing: planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and monitoring.
Course 603: SU Team –Recruiting (School Liasions)
- Designed for team members who organize GS SU Recruitment Events. Participants will get information on the step by step process to follow when planning recruitments.
Course 604: SU Team – Troop Organizer
- Designed especially for incoming GS Troop Organizers, this course will help identify the specific objectives of an organizer: assess community needs, identify and utilize resources, selection and appointment of volunteers, and placement of membership.
Course 605: SU Team – Registrar
- Designed to outline the technical tasks required to process and transmit the membership registrations and Family Partnership Campaign donations from a GS Service Unit to Council. The Registrar interprets GSUSA membership requirements and registration procedures, and maintains membership registration records for the GS Service Unit.
Course 606: SU Team – Leadership Basics Coach (Coach Level 1)
- Certifies Service Unit Team Members to facilitate the Troop Leadership Basics course at the local service unit level. Provides overview of training techniques, course material and business processes to follow when ordering materials, and submitting rosters & paperwork.
Course 607: SU Team – Leadership Development Coach (Coach Level 2)
- What do we mean by Leadership Development Coaching? Leadership is the ability to create a vision and encourage others to commit their energy and creativity to that vision. Development - leadership is also a set of human qualities and skills that can be learned and perfected. Coaching - a guided learning process where the coach helps the volunteer GS Leader to explore, challenge and ‘unlearn’ barriers to excellent performance.
- The SU Admin Team member in this position will contribute to the growth of 2nd year and beyond leaders by analyzing training needs and knowledge gaps and referring leaders to resources where they may find answers to their own questions. The Leadership Development Coach can also become certified to deliver Blue Line Course 102: PB & J Workshop at the local SU level. This training is currently only offered at Kick Off. Course 608: SU Team – Adult Recognitions Specialist
- Designed for team members who provide support for adult volunteers by promoting training and coordinating efforts to see that adults receive appropriate recognition.
Course 609: SU Team – Treasurer
- Designed for team members who are responsible for finances for the GS Service Unit or for assisting GS Troop Leaders with the finances for GS Troops. Course content includes reporting and policies.
Course 610: SU Team –Event Coordinator
- Designed for team members who organize and coordinate events for GS Troops, this course will help identify the tasks such as paperwork, budgeting, site location and others.
Course 611: SU Team – Public Relations
- Designed for team members who provide support for adult volunteers by promoting Girl Scouts in their community through print and other media. This training is currently only offered at Kick Off.
Course 612: SU Team – Family Partnership Coordinator
- Designed for team members who provide support for adult volunteers by promoting the family partnership giving campaign. This training is currently only offered at Kick Off.
Course 613: SU Team – Signing Low Risk Activity Approval Forms
- Designed for team members who sign activity approval requests. Participants will get information on the purpose of this form and what they should check for to see that the GS Troop leaders are following GSUSA and GSNETX Volunteer Policies, Procedures and Standards.
Course 614: SU Team – Mediating Conflict
- Recommended for ALL SU Team Members. Conflict between people is inevitable. The real issue is how we deal with it. Before we can determine the RIGHT way to deal with conflict - we must clearly identify what is happening and why. This course focuses on techniques for mediating conflict between yourself and another person, as well as mediating conflict between two other individuals. GSNETX polices and the steps to involve staff when escalation is necessary are also covered. Offered as a Home Study.
