GSLE Alignment

Each year we evaluate our programs to ensure that our girls are receiving a “true” Girl Scout experience and that we are aligned with the GSLE. To measure Girl Scout Alignment, we carefully evaluate each program to determine the presence of the 15 GSLE outcomes as well as the following five traditional experiences associated with Girl Scouting.

  • Camping or Community Exploration
  • Earning badges
  • Service projects
  • Cookie Program Opportunity
  • Access to Identifying Girl Scout Paraphernalia and/or uniforms

Using this tool, we scored each program on a scale of 1 to 5 signifying complete GS alignment (having met all 15 GSLE outcomes and provided all 5 elements of the traditional Girl Scout experience). The results of our 2009-2010 study are as follows:

  • Mariposas: 5 out of 5 score
  • Girl Scouts Direct: 4.75 out of 5
  • Girl Scouting in the School Day-Dallas: 4.75 out of 5 score
  • Girl Scouting in the School Day-East Texas: 5 out of 5 score
