What is the 10.11.12 initiative? It is a date and a commitment to community for another year of service. One of our three keys to leadership is TAKE ACTION, and with this in mind, the Girl Scouts are continuing this initiative, in partnership with Direct Energy (formerly First Choice Power), that we hope will inspire our Girl Scouts and/or troops to step up and help their communities in a sustainable way for a third year. By October 11, 2012, which is 10-11-12, we hope to make an impact that has a lasting impact on our communities.
10-11-12 is designed to show all Girl Scouts how a small contribution and effort can make a major impact on their local communities. The project will kick off through troop meetings, emails, and related communication before 10-11-12. By then, we hope to inspire as many Girl Scouts as possible to participate – and help them to inspire others to participate. The troops may choose to have their contributions go to the program beneficiaries they choose.
Girls may begin the 10-11-12 program at any time and will have until October 31, 2012 to finish the program. If you have a picture or anecdote about your experience, please email
brush@gsnetx.org.
