Global Green Team

Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas is seeking applications from young women to join a committee of girl volunteers interested in Environmental Awareness. Members of this committee will have the opportunity to earn community service hours, gain leadership skills, and use their creative talents to provide a fun learning experience for other youth locally and internationally. Girls will also be involved in a twinning partnership with Brazil to develop, plan, and implement an international environmental take action project. Girls in Brazil, as well as our own Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas girls will engage at least 400 youth in their individual local communities.

What is Forever Green?

Forever Green is designed around one of Girl Scouts' national initiatives -Environmental Leadership. It's focus is to provide opportunities to girls and the community to discover the environment and our Earth's natural resources, connect with others as they explore the outdoors, and take action to identify and resolve community environmental needs in a fun and innovative way that inspires others to take action.

What is Twinning?

Twinning, by definition, is a partnership between a Girl Scouts of the USA council and a WAGGGS member organization, or between two WAGGGS member organizations. Working together, Girl Scouts and their WAGGGS sisters provide leadership, inspiration, and service that is global—girls transcend borders and transform lives. Twinning is a powerful and positive example of how Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting are truly "something for all the girls of the world."

Girls will be involved in a twinning partnership with Brazil to develop, plan, and implement an international environmental take action project as they engage at least 400 youth locally. This project will take place from September of 2012 through August of 2013.

All committee members will meet via webcast, conference calls, limited on-site meetings, and other scheduled committee activities. Committee members may be asked to represent GSNETX in different capacities around Forever Green(public speaking, media, videos, etc.).

Note: You do not need to attend all meetings, or attend in person to participate. Meetings will be monthly and girls should plan on participating in at least 50% of the scheduled meetings.

The team will work until project completion no later than August of 2013.
