DALLAS – Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX) received a $10,000 gift from the Martha, David and Bagby Lennox Foundation (Lennox Foundation) to support Girl Scout Leadership Experience activities throughout the Red River region, encompassing Red River, Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris and Titus counties. The gift will further support Girl Scout activities that encourage girls to discover their values, skills, and the world around them; connect with others; and take action to make a difference in the world.

“We truly appreciate the Lennox Foundation for their generous donation and for their belief in and support of our mission,” said Colleen Walker, CEO for Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. “When the community invests in Girl Scouts, we are able to provide girls with strong curriculum that brings positive outcomes and leadership skills well beyond the 21st century.”

“The Lennox Foundation is proud to support the Northeast Texas Girl Scout program in its endeavor to train girls to be courageous and confident leaders,” said Mary W. Clark, Vice President of Lennox Foundation. “Martha Lennox was an early supporter of the Girl Scouts in Red River County and we wanted to see that tradition continue.”

The gift will further support GSNETX in providing learning opportunities designed to engage girls in four priority focus areas, including STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), healthy living, financial literacy and outdoor leadership, to approximately 60 troops serving more than 500 girls in the seven-county area.

Additionally, funds will support engagement of new troops, replacement of camp equipment at Camp Gambill, a wooded 54-acre facility located in Sumner, Texas, and provide financial assistance to girls who otherwise could not afford to participate in Girl Scouts.
