This year Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas partnered with Blockbuster resulting in 616 booths sales totaling more than 1,300 hours and raising $250,000. In doing so, Blockbuster helped to promote the Girl Scouts’ signature Business and Economic Literacy program: the world famous Girl Scout Cookie Program.

This partnership brought great success to Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, including the first-ever Blockbuster Business Etiquette Patch program. This inaugural program entails Girl Scout Troop members practicing business etiquette skills such as proper introductions to management, faithfully following store rules and guidelines, offering services to store employees, and maintaining a clean and neat work environment. After receiving a signature approval, Girl Scouts can proudly wear their new Blockbuster patch.

"The Girl Scout Cookie Program has always focused on teaching girls valuable life skills, while providing insight about what it takes to make a business work,” says Jennifer Clubb, Director of Sales of Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. “The partnership with Blockbuster helped create a new learning experience for Girl Scouts and strengthened ties to our local community".

The Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls skills such as goal setting, public speaking, teamwork, brand awareness, responsibility, money & time management, financial literacy and grassroots entrepreneurship. What started out as a bake sale has turned into the premiere business and economic literacy program for girls in the United States.

The entire Girl Scout Troop sets a goal and follows a plan leading toward that goal. Girl Scout Troops use funds from the Girl Scout Cookie Program to fund service projects, exciting educational field trips, and other leadership activities. Whether girls are dreaming of becoming a doctor, teacher, businesswoman, president of the PTA, or superstar athlete, the Girl Scout Cookie Program gives them the self-esteem they need to reach for the stars.
