Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas are making a difference all over the world! Meet Elaine Morton of Plano. For her Girl Scout Gold Award project, Elaine decided she wanted to help the people of Guatemala. After doing her research, Elaine determined that she could make an impact by donating eyeglasses to the needy children of Guatemala. Elaine solicited the help of her local community to meet her goal. She asked her friends, family, neighbors, and school to help her help the children of Guatemala. Her project resulted in over 225 pairs of glasses and 270 glasses cases to donate to the children in Guatemala. That's amazing!
This year we recognized 173 outstanding Girl Scout Gold Award recipients. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout can earn and celebrates her leadership, team-building skills, cooperative effort, and determination to improve her life, the lives of others, and her community. Congratulations to our Elaine and all our amazing Girl Scout Gold Award recipients!
