Safety FirstSafety First

Ensuring the health and safety of girls is the cornerstone of Girl Scouts. This includes developing safety awareness in both girls and adults, as well as training staff, volunteers, and girls to ensure proper supervision and planning to prevent accidents and incidents.

Girl Scout of Northeast Texas implements strict safety precautions and procedures during all Girl Scout activities including camping. The Outdoor Education Manager and Camp Site Managers maintain relationships with local emergency care facilities and agencies (police, fire, etc.), and notify authorities when camps are in session and of the number of campers in attendance in preparation should emergency evacuations become necessary. Emergency agencies and volunteers monitoring the Texas Emergency Alert System also notify the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas camps of potentially dangerous weather conditions.

Additionally, camp staff and volunteers is trained in first aid, CPR, and emergency procedures.
