Light pollution threatens not only our “right to starlight”, but can affect energy consumption, wildlife and health. Make plans to participate in the 'GLOBE at Night' Campaign and use your participation to fulfill Girl Scout requirements! Girl Scouts and other citizen-scientists will observe the constellations Orion and Leo when the moon is not up between 8-10 p.m. on specific dates January through April 2013. You will measure the brightness of your night sky and submit your observations from a computer or smart phone to the GLOBE at Night website, www.globeatnight.org
. Please see the website for specific dates and to download the Teacher or Family Activity Packets. See the 'Dark Skies Ranger Program' listing in this catalog for more information and a wealth of activities highlighting light pollution.
You may access the 'Dark Skies Ranger Program' from the GLOBE at Night website. Get out and observe the night sky!
