Texas History Alive! Playing the Past   STEM Program   Badge Program
Grade Levels Served:  D,B,J,C,S,A,F
Program Description:  This is a great opportunity for learning about Texas history with lots of hands-on experiences: see an 1870's chuckwgon; visit with the cook or fur-trapper; see costumed volunteers demonstrate life skills such as spinning and weaving; help with chores like laundry (wash board/lye soap), butter churning and corn grinding or play with the pioneer toys. Presentations by historical figures like Sam Houston, or DeLiens Rose. Tour A.W. Perry Homestead, a beautifully restored turn of the 20th century farmhouse. Make -and-take crafts. All levels of Girl Scouts are invited; links to several journeys; Juniors complete most of Playing The Past. Register by March 20th to receive event patch. Volunteer opportunities. Pre-registration requested.
