Grade Levels Served: J
Program Description: “Sparkle”, “Bling”, “Glitz”, “Shine”, whatever you call it, there’s nothing quite like the way light dances off beads to draw one’s attention to the source. Learn to use this information to create one or more pieces of jewelry in this class. Juniors will enjoy learning techniques and tips from an award winning jewelry designer, maker and seller. The girls will learn to identify commonly used tools and state their typical uses. They will make a wire-wrapped pendant (a “caged” stone), and at least one other piece of their choosing. We will look at different types of jewelry from different eras and different cultures. By the conclusion of this activity, we will have completed 4 of the 5 steps for this badge.
