Real Girls Real Women Annual Awards Luncheon
The annual Real Girls Real Women Dallas Awards Luncheon held each Fall recognizes outstanding women leaders and Girl Scouts for their service to the community and is fast becoming one of Dallas' premiere daytime events. Funds raised during Real Girls Real Women Dallas provide the "Gift of Girl Scouting" and support the activities of girls in traditional Girl Scout troops. Your support of the Real Girls Real Women Dallas Luncheon through sponsorships and ticket purchases helps provide the genuine Girl Scout Leadership Experience to over 35,000 girls throughout northeast Texas.

2012 Awards Dinner Chair

Lynn McBee
Lynn McBee was a former Girl Scout and works in the Biotechnology field. Lynn is best known for her leadership roles in the Dallas community. Most recently, she was chosen as the chairman of the board for the Dallas Film Society and will receive the Partners for Children Award from Community Partners of Dallas in early 2012. McBee currently chairs the United Way of Dallas' Toqueville Society and the 25th Anniversary Celebration. She currently serves as chairman emeritus and is a life member of the board of directors for the Visiting Nurses Association.

Honorary Chair: Cathy Coughlin

Cathy Coughlin
Cathy Coughlin is the senior executive vice president and global marketing officer of AT&T Inc., the world’s largest telecommunications company. Throughout her career, Cathy has been committed to serving the community. She serves on the board of directors of several organizations including Northwestern University and the Dallas Women’s Museum. She also serves on the board of trustees of the American Film Institute. Cathy was elected to Girl Scouts of the USA’s National Board in 2010 and serves on the Fund Development Committee.

2012 Honorees

Centennial Woman of Distinction
Matrice Ellis-Kirk
Matrice’s exceptional work ethic is how she has led several management roles over her twelve year career at Heidrick and Struggles, the world’s first leadership advisory firm. Matrice’s hard work continues as an elected board member of the North Texas Tollway Association, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Foundation, AT&T Performing Arts Center, and the State Fair of Texas. She has also served on numerous civic and public company boards, always with a personal interest in issues affecting women and girls. Matrice is married to United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk, former Mayor of Dallas. They have two daughters, Elizabeth Alexandra “Alex” and Catherine Victoria. Matrice is a Girl Scout alumna, served as assistant troop leader for Alex’s Girl Scout troop and was a “cookie mom.” Matrice is a proud graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

Sally Hoglund
A vibrant and determined advocate is how those close to Sally describe her. As a driving force in the Dallas and Houston philanthropic communities, Sally and her husband, Forrest created the Hoglund Foundation in 1989. They lend their time, talent, and resources to causes they hold near and dear including education, health, and family support systems. Sally has instilled the value of helping others in her three daughters, who have passed it on to their children. Sally was a Girl Scout Brownie and a troop leader. She cherishes living in this great country and feels that giving back is a privilege.
 
Centennial Woman of Distinction
Peggy Sewell
Peggy is known for her dedication to philanthropy in Dallas-Ft. Worth getting an early introduction to community involvement as a Girl Scout Brownie in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is particularly interested in the areas of health care and education. She currently serves on The Salvation Army Board, Junior League of Dallas Sustainer Advisory Board, Baylor Health Care System Foundation Board, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors, SMU Meadows School Executive Board and is a trustee of the Dallas Museum of Art. Peggy has provided leadership as event and campaign chairman for numerous events, including the Art Ball benefiting the Dallas Museum of Art which raised more than $1 million. Peggy is married to Carl Sewell, Chairman of Sewell AutomotiveCompanies. They have two grown children, Jacquelin Sewell Taylor and Carl Sewell, III.
 
 
Real Girl Award Recipient
Barrett Cole
Barrett is described as respectful, compassionate, and possesses a strong sense of social justice. Barrett has been a Girl Scout top cookie seller for 11 consecutive years. She serves on the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas’ Girl Advisory Board, is a Gold, Silver and Bronze Award recipient, and was chosen to represent this region as a National Council Delegate at Girl Scouts National Convention. She sits on the State Board for 4-H and will represent the state of Texas at national competitions in beef and poultry. Barrett is a senior at Shelton High School where she serves as President of her Student Body, Editor of the Yearbook and plays Varsity Volleyball. She has received the President’s Volunteer Service Award several times for the 2,800 hours she has served in her community. Most recently, Justine Magazine will feature her in their fall issue for her community service work.
 
Real Girl Award Recipient
Sarah Felan
If someone is in need, Sarah is there to lend a hand with a smile on her face. For her Girl Scout Gold Award, she enlightened the City of Prosper to the needs of the disadvantaged, trained volunteers, and helped over 200 underprivileged children purchase clothes through the “Clothe A Child” program at a local department store. For her work with “Clothe A Child,” Sarah was named a Hometown Hero by KDFW Fox 4 News in 2011. Sarah is an outstanding Varsity Soccer player, has been named District Honorable Mention and Second Team, and assists with local soccer camps. Through the National Honor Society, she has spent additional hours serving the community. Sarah is a Girl Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Award recipient and plans to major in Biology in college.

Gabrielle Gafford
Gabrielle “Gabby” embodies the Girl Scout mission of displaying courage, confidence, and character. Gabby is a four-year member of the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas’ Girl Advisory Board (GAB), and was elected GAB’s first board president. As President, Gabby led the board’s first service project, “Little Dresses for Africa.” This project transformedhundreds of pillowcase into dresses for girls in Africa, allowing the girls to have a dress of their very own, and build their self-esteem. Gabrielle is a junior at Berkner High School and has received multiple honors including National Honor Society, Sophomore Class Treasurer, and All-District Honorable Mention for the 2011-2012 Berkner High School Varsity Basketball season. Gabby earned her Girl Scout Bronze and Silver Awards.
