AmeriCorps Girl Scout Academy VISTA

At the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX), girls learn the skills, have the experiences, and cultivate the relationships that enable them to soar in life. Through the Girl Scout Academy model, the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas VISTA Members will help expand GSNETX’s reach to provide more opportunities to girls in both low-income and Spanish speaking communities by engaging with strategic partners, community organizations and schools to host Girl Scout troops in areas not traditionally served with the Girl Scout program

Member Duties: VISTA Members will serve to strengthen the infrastructure within the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas organization to reach more girls and provide innovative 21st-century programming designed to build female leaders of tomorrow. Members will establish new partnerships and opportunities for the financial literacy program, field trips, special events and community service projects. To ensure sustainable partnerships the VISTA members will develop reporting and tracking systems to document partnership commitments. Additionally, the members will work with partnering organizations to establish best practices for program reporting, attendance, and registration. Members will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of K-12 program curriculum. With the creation of pre-surveys and post-surveys members will conduct audits of program quality and effectiveness.

AmeriCorps STEM Program Facilitator - Southwest Dallas

AmeriCorps STEM Program Facilitator – HT Positions

The AmeriCorps Program Facilitator is responsible for Girl Scout program delivery and design including, chaperoning participants during assigned sessions, and assisting with field trips, overnight camping, summer camps and other youth-serving activities at Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX). This person will share in the implementation and coordination of high-quality programming that meets the goals and objectives of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programs at the STEM Center of Excellence.  GSLE program pillars include STEM, life skills, entrepreneurship, and outdoor activities, and will be regular topics of educational activities provided. This person is also responsible for the emotional and physical health and safety of students under their leadership. Orientation is on September 1st.

COVID 19 – in the wake of the pandemic the service of AmeriCorps members may shift to a more virtual experience to include virtual programming and curriculum planning and development.

We are looking for members as diverse as the community we serve and with the following eligibility requirements:

·   Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident and authorized to work in the U.S.

·  Must be at least 18 years old.

·  Must have a high school diploma or be willing to earn one while serving (undergraduate degree strongly preferred).

·  AmeriCorps Members will have access to students age 17 or younger, thus a National Service Criminal History Check is required. Must complete and pass a criminal background check.

·  Able to commit to completing 900 hours of half time service over 4 months with a living allowance of $9,000.00.

·  AmeriCorps members will be eligible for an education award upon successful completion of service with a satisfactory performance evaluation.

The AmeriCorps Girl Scout Program Facilitator will assist Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX) in the organization, delivery, implementation and assessment of The Girl Scout Leadership Experience in school and community troops to build courage, confidence, and character in girls in grades K-12 through in-school and after-school programs in collaboration with local schools, nonprofit or community organizations, GSNETX Service Center and Service Units and at council hosted events and workshops. Orientation is on September 1st.

Seasonal Positions

Troop Engagement Assistant

The Troop Engagement Temporary Employee is responsible for maintaining customer focus in order to provide excellent service to volunteers, parents and girls in existing Girl Scout troops, mentoring troop leaders and providing guidance, especially through the crucial bridging years. This role assists with the execution of strategic retention initiatives and works in partnership with staff and volunteers to achieve results. The Troop Engagement Assistant builds relationships with volunteers to empower, equip, and support them to reach more girls in more ways with greater impact.  The position is a temporary part-time position to last up to 6 months.
