Hit the Road with Girl Scouts!

Pack your bag, grab your sense of adventure, and hop in! Our Adventure Camping trips bring Senior and Ambassador* Girl Scouts together for travel-based experiences across Texas that combine the excitement of exploring new places with the fun of outdoor tent camping. Girls will pitch their own tents, cook meals together, and build real-world camping skills in a variety of scenic locations. Whether it’s hiking new trails, visiting historic sites, or trying activities you’ve never done before, every trip is packed with friendship, discovery, and the confidence that comes from doing it yourself!

Rachel Royall

Meet Rachel!

Rachel works at Camp Whispering Cedars and is the leader of our Adventure Camping trips. She enjoys the outdoors and has a passion for taking Girl Scouts around Texas, teaching them camping skills, and building up their confidence. To prioritize the safety of campers, Rachel is Wilderness First Responder certified.

Rachel grew up loving the outdoors, so working at camp has been a fulfilling job for her. She has been working at Camp Whispering Cedars for about four years now; she started this job right out of college as a STEM Program Specialist and has worked up to being Camp Whispering Cedars Camp Director. Her favorite part of working at camp is working to get Girl Scouts in STEM-based fields to build their confidence up for a future career. She feels Girl Scouts is the place to grow in so many different ways, and is proud to get to be a part of that experience!

Girl Scout Seniors, Ambassadors, and Cadettes (Fall only).

Girl Scouts do not need to be in a troop to attend.

For your Girl Scout's trip we will provide:

Tents
Sleeping bags
Sleeping pads
Backpacks
Bincoulars
Cameras
Water bottles (optional)
Chairs
Kitchen equipment
Food

How do we get there? toggle arrow

At the beginning of every trip, there’s always a drop-off option at Camp Whispering Cedars. If preferred, families may also choose to drop off at the camping location for that trip. For some trips, additional drop-off and pick-up locations may be available and will be announced on a trip-by-trip basis.

A trip-specific packing list will be preovided for each trip, but a general packing list includes:

Duffel bag
Shoes
Toiletries
Clothes
Reusable water bottle
Pillow
Blanket (optional)
Sunglasses
Headlamp
Hat
Down time activities

Financial Assistance toggle arrow

Financial assistance may be requested for any registered Girl Scout living in the 32 counties served by Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. GSNETX makes every effort to assist as many girls as possible from our allocated funds. Families with financial situations that may prevent them from participating in the sleepaway camp program can request assistance for all or part of the session fee.

If requesting Financial Assistance for Sleepaway Camp:

Register and pay deposit. Financial aid grants are applied towards the remaining balances.
Complete the GSNETX Sleepaway Camp Financial Assistance.
The application process will indicate the amount granted.
You will receive an email confirmation once form is submitted.
You will be notified by email after GSNETX processes your registration.
Incomplete requests will not be processed.
