At precisely 11:52 AM, we were in for a sky spectacle that could rival any star-studded major picture movie. The stars (or in this case, the sun and the moon) aligned, treating us to an Annular Solar Eclipse. The best seats in the house? Well, they were right here at our 92-acre camp in South Dallas, where hundreds of Girl Scouts and their families from all over Northeast Texas gathered for this once-in-a-lifetime show.
From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM CDT, our young scientists had a blast exploring all things space-related, from premier eclipse viewing to rocket launches, galaxy painting, and STEM scavenger hunts. Thanks to Boeing's sponsorship, many attendees stepped into the Starlab for an out-of-this-world experience where they learned about the eclipse of the day and even got a sneak peek at the upcoming one in April; they explored constellations, galaxies, and more, all from the comfort of our portable planetarium.
