This is a guest post by Cadette Girl Scout and Miss Media club member, Riley Lamb. Riley shares about her troop travel experience and their plans for ultimately going abroad.
Savannah, GEORGIA
My troop, Troop 6885, is traveling to Savannah, Georgia in June of 2024. There are 9 Cadettes and 2 female adult leaders going on this trip. We plan to visit the Juliette Gordon Low museum and birthplace, Girl Scout Headquarters, Andrew Low Home Tour, a ghost tour, The Old Fort Jackson Girl Scout Militia Program, the Tybee Island Marine Center, Tybee Island Light house plus a lot of fun Savannah educational spots and yummy places to eat.
Our troop is planning a long overseas trip to Ireland, Wales and Paris! We are so excited to visit Savannah, Georgia but one reason for this trip is to practice traveling as a group. We have also toured Dallas and Fort Worth so we can practice reading and following maps, street signs and navigating traffic.
We have been fundraising for almost a year to pay for our Savannah trip! Some ways we have fundraised for this trip includes selling Girl Scout Cookies, participating in Fall Product, Egg My Yard, and a Bingo Night for our friends and family. We have had the most fun with the Egg My Yard! It was so much fun meeting with my GS sister and stuffing the eggs! We divided them up and placed them in yards on Easter weekend! We even included a cute Easter Egg fun patch for any with Girl Scouts that signed up!
